The Salesman[]

Abilities[]

Flavor Text[]

Quote[]

"Reality is just a matter of negotiation."

Bio[]

According to Bob, the secret to success as a salesman is persistence. People just need to be told what it is that they want. Repeatedly. Recently, Bob came into possession of a handful of unusual golden coins, and Bob hopes that the same persistence he so famous advocates will help him to uncover their origin and purpose. His subsequent research taught him that the coins are rare and valuable, but also that some sort of curse is attached to them. Collectors refuse to touch them—but Bob is sold. He wants to know more.

Defeated Encounters[]

Loss of Health

IN CASE OF CRIPPLING INJURY OR DEATH
Broken and bitter, Bob spends his evenings drinking away his pain. He no longer cares about his wares. Gain all of his possessions. One night, he flies into a drunken rage. You try to subdue him without making his considerable injuries worse (Strength). If you pass, he apologizes and confesses the occult secrets that terrify him most; retreat Doom Doom by 1. If you fail, the fight gets out of hand and put him back to the hospital, after which he never speaks to you again. Whether you pass or not, discard his Investigator token.

Loss of Sanity

IN CASE OF INSANITY OR OTHER PSYCHOSIS
You hear that Bob joined some sort of "society", and the group inundates you with "special offers". Set aside all of his possessions and each non-service Asset in the reserve. For the remainder of this game, as a part of an Acquire Assets action, an investigator may acquire possession that were set aside this way as if they are in the reserve and each have a value of 1. Though you never speak to Bob again, you begrudgingly admire his tenacity. Discard his Investigator token. Then perform an Acquire Assets action.

Rulings, clarifications, and reminders[]

  • The reduction in Asset value during the Acquire Assets Action only applies to Bob Jenkins and is not cumulative.
  • None of the exchanged possessions are considered "gained" or "discarded" as part of Bob's active ability.[1][2]

Team Role[]

With his unique talents, Bob is someone who can gain assets quickly, and funnel them to those who need them. He starts with a rifle that makes him decent in battle, and can quickly adapt into any role the player might need.

Origin[]

Bob Jenkins made his first appearance in 2005 in Arkham Horror: Second Edition.
